Thursdays Are for Expecting Families

Thursday evenings from 6:30–8:00 p.m. are now dedicated to pregnancy support at Radiant. Join us for either Pregnancy Circle or a Prenatal Class on a rotating schedule.

Pregnancy Circle is a free gathering for expectant parents to connect, ask questions, share experiences, or simply enjoy a cup of tea with others who are also preparing for birth. There is a new topic each week, with relevant resources available to take home and related books to take home from our lending library.

Our first topic on Thursday, July 16 will be birth choices! We will have birth plans available, and the best books covering your options during birth. If you know someone who is expecting, I'd be so grateful if you shared these programs with them or forwarded them this newsletter. Word of mouth helps Radiant grow and reach more growing families.

Our upcoming schedule of pay-what-you-can prenatal classes is now available! Over the next few months, we'll be exploring a variety of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum topics, with each class focusing on one subject at a time. Join us for the sessions that interest you most—partners and support people are always welcome.

Coming up:

  • Know Your Rights - Thu, July 23

  • Birth Partner Bootcamp - Thu, August 6

  • Protecting the Perineum - Thu, August 20

New Services at Radiant

Please help us spread the word about a new free service at Radiant. Child Welfare (CAS) Navigation Sessions are now available by appointment for parents and caregivers who are preparing for a meeting, responding to concerns, working with an open file, or simply trying to better understand the child welfare system.

These one-on-one sessions provide practical, individualized support to help families understand the process, prepare for meetings, organize information, connect with resources, and navigate the system with greater confidence. The service is currently completely free thanks to funding from the National Coalition for Doula Access.

If you know someone who could benefit from this support, I would be grateful if you shared this resource with them. Child Welfare (CAS) Navigation Sessions can be booked for free through Radiant's website.

We're also introducing Community Connector Hours every Wednesday from 1:00–3:00 p.m. Stop by if you need help finding local resources, services, or supports for yourself or your family.

Now Booking: Birth Doula Clients

I'm also excited to share that I'm opening my availability for new birth doula clients. If we've met through a prenatal class or another Radiant program, birth doula care offers the opportunity to continue that relationship throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. My support includes four prenatal visits, continuous on-call labour support beginning at 37 weeks, your birth, and two postpartum visits, all tailored to your family's needs and values.

If you're expecting and wondering whether a doula is the right fit for your family, I'd love to meet with you. Complimentary consultations are now available through the website.

We are building a lending library!

We are collecting pregnancy, birth, postpartum, lactation, and parenting books to grow our lending library for families at Radiant.

As always, thank you for being part of the Radiant community. Whether you've attended a class, stopped by Play Café, borrowed a book, shared one of our programs, or simply told a friend about us, you're helping me build up this space that I care so deeply about.

If you'd like to support Radiant, monetary donations are always appreciated. Donations are accepted via e-transfer to hello@radiantcentre.ca. We also gratefully accept donations of everyday supplies that help keep our space welcoming and accessible. Right now, we're especially in need of paper towel, toilet paper, coffee grounds, and individually packaged snacks for families visiting the centre.

Thank you for helping make Radiant a place where families feels welcome.

— Javi
